Every physician strives to achieve this goal by altering your diet habits and with a vigorous exercise regimen. The aim is to achieve the purpose by not intruding into the delicate mechanism of insulin secretion. A gentle fine tuning of your systems and brisk exercise done regularly will control blood sugar levels and take you back to your original form. A huge benefit from this whole exercise is that you can return back to your original self without any relapse!
As is known to every body, the normal value of blood sugar for a fasting individual is 60 to110 mg/dl. And after eating, the value rises to 110 to 140 mg/dl. Any value above this is known to be a diabetic condition. To maintain it at this level is the task that is laid before any diabetic diet plan.
Some food stuff that have a low glycemic index would slowly raise the blood sugar level while a fruit juice or a cheese burger would do the job so fast as they have a very high glycemic index. Sensible eating is required to control blood sugar levels. Eat more vegetables, with little or no cooking in the form of salads and add more roughage into your diet. A brown bread instead of a white bread, oatmeal, whole pulses and cereals and whole wheat with bran are the excellent fiber rich foods that you can add to your diet to lower blood sugar naturally.
Beware of the innocuous looking cookie that is claimed to be made especially for a diabetic. All bakery products contain an unacceptable percentage of fats to enhance their taste and this could raise your blood sugar level.
Exercise is the other half of the story. You must put in at least one hour of vigorous exercise to reap its full benefits. Tremendous improvements can be seen in cholesterol reduction and weight control can be achieved by this. When the weight reduces your meager insulin supply suddenly becomes adequate and the reversal happens now. As the insulin breaks down more glucose in the blood than ever before the blood glucose level drops drastically. Try yoga for stress relieving. It is interesting to note that quite a few diabetics reverted to normalcy even without any change in diet after they were made to sleep well. Insomnia raises hypertension and blood sugar alike. It is one of the natural ways to get back in shape and unimaginably simple.
Keeping these points in mind to control blood sugar levels is essential. Do not overeat on food. Eat lightly at all times. If possible split your meals and eat in part whenever you are hungry. Most importantly do not skip any meals. When you go hungry for a long time the body goes in to a defensive mode and tries to conserve energy by cutting down on the metabolic rate. This you will not like at all definitely. Even worse, the food that you eat after many hours of fasting is not burnt but stored as fat thus adding up to your weight. Follow these steps and you will revert back to normal blood sugar level pretty soon.
